Mickey’s (Less Stress) Birthday Party Ideas

I have been a birthday party planner and birthday clown for over 20 years, a certified Art Teacher, an activities director and a home school mom.

I have come up with the most fun, low stress, tried and true birthday party ideas. Read through, choose what you feel is comfortable for you, and last but not least, HAVE FUN!

Mom, shopping with Birthdaydirect will save you time and money. If you buy over $55.00 the shipping is free. And they ship FAST!
They have a huge selection of Mickey party supplies that your local stores probably do not carry. So sit back, relax, grab a cup of coffee and let’s get started.

MICKEY’S CLUBHOUSE BIRTHDAY PARTY SUPPLIES
For busy moms and easy party planning, order your Mickey’s Clubhouse birthday party supplies from Birthdaydirect. Start with Mickey’s Clubhouse deluxe starter package for 8 kids. It’s a perfect starting point for your party.

BIRTHDAY PARTY PLANNING TIP (for less stress)

Delegate jobs to friends you know won’t mind helping. Ask them before the party so they won’t be surprised.

* Someone to take a few great shots: The classic- child blowing out the candles. Have Mom and Dad bend over next to the birthday star while singing for a perfect picture.Take a few of the parents and make sure you get a group shot of all the kids.

* Someone to help with the cake and food

*Someone to help with the games and activities (maybe your babysitter or a family member)

* Your child will love to help put up decorations.

If the kids are old enough, set out a couple of digital cameras and let them take turns photographing the party! They will have a blast and it’s easy to delete bad pics.

A good party idea is: taking lots of pictures and videotaping parts of the party. Don’t feel like you have to tape every second.. Just the highlights. You will miss out on the fun if YOU are the photographer and videographer.

As the years go on, you may want to make a DVD with bits of each party streamed together. What fun it will be to see your child as they grow! And they grow FAST!

DECORATIONS
Get a white tressel and hang black and white streamers and curling ribbon from top to bottom. Cover with black and white and red balloons and even some white Christmas lights. Find a chair to set under the tressel.Cover it with a red cloth.
Tie some awesome super shaped Disney Mickey Mouse balloons to the chair and to the tressel for a stunning birthday party room eye catcher.

This, of course, will be the super chair where the birthday child can open presents and take photos.

Did you know Birthdaydirect.com has a matching set of streamers, balloons and curling ribbon for the Mickey’s Clubhouse pattern to decorate the whole room? They advertise here, soo.. we encourage you to shop with them.

To transform the whole party area into a green field of rolling hills with balloons in the air, check out the Scene Setters plastic murals. They are on sale and cost less than $20.00 and cover 20 feet of space. It’s easy to put up and looks so cool. They also carry add ons that are less than $5.00.

WHERE SHOULD WE PARTY?
Renting a room at a local recreation center is inexpensive and you won’t have to worry about your house at all. Transform your home with Christmas lights and balloons.

ACTIVITIES
Mom, don’t stress out! Just choose a couple of these fun easy ideas. Don’t feel like you have to do all of these.

GOOFY BUBBLES- For first guests, pass out Mickey Mouse bubbles. You can order them from Birthdaydirect. This will keep them busy until everyone arrives.

GREET THE GUESTS IN STYLE
For a show stopper right from the start, decorate the entrance way with lots of balloons and streamers! Pass out Mickey ears to each guest as they arrive.

GAMES
1.Pin the Ears on Mickey.
Enlarge a picture of Mickey and cut out his ears. Make copies (one for each guest). Take turns pinning his ears (blind folded) where they should be.

2. Donald’s Freeze Dance
Use music from Disney movies. The kids all dance till the music STOPS! Last one to stop moving helps with the music. Last child dancing gets a prize.

3.Hide and Seek
Kids also love to hunt for hidden treasures. Hide Mickey party favors throughout the party area and let the kids look for treats. Have a helper guide kids that can’t find their prize. You can hide their party favors and have them hunt right before the party ends as an exciting grand finale.

4.Minney’s shoe closet
Have all the kids take off their shoes and put them in a pile. First one to find their shoes wins. As each child finds their shoes, they get a sticker.

5.Mickey Sweep
Have two teams-2 balloons -2 brooms. Have kids sweep a balloon from one end to the other and back. Winning team gets stickers or an extra treat.

ART AND CRAFT AREA
The best part of this craft is that you can eat it after you admire it! Use food items like licorice strings, O shaped hard candies, or colored loops cereal.

Use your imagination. Make necklaces, bracelets and rings! You can get beads from your local craft shop and make a special take home favor.

MICKEY”S TATTOOS (Order Ready made or paint them yourself)
Use body paint and a fine brush or fine watercolor marker for details. Acrylic paint is non toxic and washes off easily. Paint simple stars, sun, fish, whatever you can manage. Practice on paper and keep it simple. Kids love this!

Finish off with shimmery glitter. Kids love this creative way to express themselves! And it washes off easily. Give the kids ideas but, let them use their imagination and creativity.

BIRTHDAY PARTY FOOD IDEA

LET THEM EAT CAKE-There are so many beautiful cake kits that go with Mickey’s Clubhouse. Which character is your child’s favorite? What fun! Have you checked out the awesome cake kits that Birthdaydirect.com has?

Practice making a cake, with your child helping, long before the party so you can see what you will be getting into. The easiest way to cut a cake is with dental floss or even fishing line. There is a special cake knife that you can order that is part of the Disney pattern.

If you want to forget a cake, go with easy cupcakes with fun little rings, or pretty picks that match your Mickey theme. Birthdaydirect has a really neat cupcake holder too. You need to check it out!

PARTY FOOD IDEAS- place pretty placecards in front of each food item you choose to make your treats special

PLUTO PUNCH- lime sherbert and gingerale

MINNEY’S MOUTH WATERING SANDWICHES- make these with a heart shaped cookie cutter. Make lunch meat and strawberry cream cheese sandwiches with wheat bread on one side and white on the other.

DONALD’S DIAMONDS -strawberries dipped in white chocolate

PLUTO’S PRETZELS- dip pretzel sticks in white chocolate. Add colored sprinkles

POPCORN, CHIPS, OR PRETZELS- served in little tin pails.

ICECREAM - put in wafer cones that kids love (do this before the party for less stress)
REMEMBER- When kids are excited they don’t eat much. Have simple fun foods. Also, we all know that sugar will get kids MORE hyper. Unless your birthday party is in a gymnasium, or a playground, think about the foods you will be serving!

Also, this party should be FUN! Less stress means not to make a huge ordeal over the menu. You are not putting on a wedding, it’s your kid’s birthday party. FUN is the key word here!

BIRTHDAY PARTY PLANNING IDEAS
Good for you mom, that you are having this party! Your child will always remember his/her birthday and the precious time you spent with them as you plan it TOGETHER! Including your child is so very important. You could hire a birthday party planner to put together all your kid’s parties… But it really is not that hard to do yourself. You know your child, and what he/she likes. Let your child be the major planner. It is THEIR party.

Let your child pick their favorite friends to come to the party. Let them help with what kind of food should be served. They will remember the time you spent with them planning, as much as the party.Everything else is a piece of cake!
BIRTHDAY DIRECT would love to hear how your party went. Go to Penny the Party Planner Blog and tell everything! Send a photo too!
