What is JoJo’s Circus?

JoJo and her fellow characters hail from Circus Town, a self-sufficient city whose cultural center is the “Big Top” circus tent. The show focuses on JoJo Tickle and stresses simple, everyday lessons such as playing with others, personal hygene, responsibility, and safety.

Also paramount is the show’s focus on excercise: JoJo often asks for audience participation (such as clapping, jumping, and stretching) from viewers.

BIRTHDAY PARTY PLANNING TIPS
JoJo’s Circus is a really cute birthday party pattern. Of course, a circus tent, or carnival and clowns are the theme. Some creative party ideas are: making a certain area of the party room look like a circus tent.

Another kid’s birthday party idea for JoJo is dancing and exercising. She does this often in her show, so this would be good to release some energy. Play fun music in the background as the party progresses. You will see the kids dancing and moving around.

The top choices are usually balloon animals, a couple of games and face or hand painting. I’m usually there an hour, which leaves time for cake and presents. A normal party lasts about 1 1/2 hours.

You will find that most party items are packaged in a set of 8. The big party companies have done lots of research and have come up with this magic number as being a managable and easy number for kids at a party. So think of that when you do your party planning.

Taking pictures and videotaping parts of the first few parties is very important. Don’t feel like you have to tape every second. Just the highlights. You will miss out on the fun if YOU are the photographer and videographer.

Singing the Birthday Song, eating the first few bites of cake, and a shot of all the guests together around the birthday child will be a fine memory. Another birthday party idea: About the cake… have a cupcake for a 1st birthday child to dive into… Not many want to eat after the birthday child has had the first dive into the BIG cake…

DECORATIONS
You can use colorful streamers attached to the ceiling, and drape them so they look like a tent shape. Attach balloons to each corner. Lots and lots of primary colored (red blue and yellow) balloons! They are cheap and shout “PARTY”.

WHERE SHOULD WE PARTY?
Why not rent a traveling circus for another great theme party idea? Just kidding! Renting a room at a local recreation center is inexpensive and you won’t have to worry about your house at all.

If you choose your home, pick a room that doesn’t have WHITE CARPETS!… and clear it out. Having an outdoor party is a great idea… But unless you live somewhere that you can count on the weather, stay inside. Remember, birthday parties are fun!

IMPORTANT!
YOU should have a great time at your child’s party too. This is the highlight of the year for kids.

When you are party planning, see if you can get a best friend, grandma, or even dad to commit to helping with decorating, wiping up spills, photos, and cleanup.

ACTIVITIES
Check into having a clown entertain. But remember, kids 1 and 2 years old usually are frightened of real clowns. Check references if you hire a clown. Find out what they can do, if you have a choice, and be sure you understand what he/she will charge.

When I do clown parties I list all the activities I do and let the customer choose which they like the best. I make sure to tell them I can only do so much in an hour, depending on how many kids show up. This is important in your kid’s birthday party planning.
JoJo’s Circus encourages music and imagination and so should you. For little kids here are a couple tried and true party ideas:

FACE PAINTING
Another great party idea: You can order just one pack of face makeup and make it go a long way! Give everyone a red dot nose, red lips, blue on the eyebrows and a yellow spot on each cheek.

VOILA! Instant clown! Keep this as simple as you can. Its easy to get carried away with face makeup and end up with a bunch of kids with really scarry clown faces..You don’t want that!

BUBBLES:
This is a great little kid’s birthday party idea! Do this at the very beginning of the party as the kids are coming in. Blow lots of bubbles with some fun music. Wipe the floor during this activity.(slippery!)You can get fun kids music from Birthdaydirect. They help pay our bills so that’s why we plug them alot.

BOUNCYÂ Â BALLS:
In a large open space have a bunch of big colorful punch balls or any kind of bouncy balls that little kids can play with.

These favors can also be part of their take home birthday party treat.
Remember, you and your child should have FUN at the party! Don’t get stressed!

TREAT BAG FAVORS:
There is a ton of party favors you can choose from. Put in lots in each treat bag. Stickers, bouncy balls, keepsake cups, and clown noses are all great favors for little ones, or teens! It’s always fun to leave a birthday party with a mylar balloon.

OLD SCHOOL BIRTHDAY PARTY GAMES…. TRIED AND TRUE…

PIN THE NOSE ON THE CLOWN
It’s like pin the tail on the donkey, but you use a large copy of a clown face (without a nose). Get one from a coloring book Cut out red construction paper noses. You know the rest! Give stickers, or blow outs to everyone who tries.

HOT POTATO
Always a birthday party favorite game.Use a beach ball. You can order fun music CDs from… YOU KNOW WHERE! Moms of little ones need to help with this game. When the kids are out, give them a bag of popcorn in red and white carinval bags. This will keep them entertained as they watch the other kids.

MUSICAL CHAIRS (and variation of)
This is a birthday party classic (If you have access to enough chairs this is always a blast!) Make sure you video tape the last 4 kids.

If you don’t have enough chairs you can play a different version. Draw out a large circle. In the center place all the party hats except one.

Kids will walk or dance around the circle until the music stops. The child left without a hat gets a prize. Give a coloring sheet and colors to those waiting for the game to finish.

LIMBO
Everyone has fun with this game. If you don’t want to buy an official Limbo set, you can have just as much fun holding a long stick and lowering it. When kids are out, give them a lollipop as they wait for the others.

Again, Birthdaydirect has great party music that goes with this birthday party theme. Video tape little kids doing the Limbo. Its hillarious!

PINATA
These have become very popular over the past few years. You can order ones that have certain shapes, or collapsable ones from YOU KNOW WHERE… Fill with small candies and toys. Save this for the grand finale of the party.

If your birthday party will have a carnival atmosphere have a few games set up.

1.) Clown bowling:Use empty 2 liter plastic bottles and a ball.
2.) Clown toss: have a laundry basket set out. Give kids 3 tries to throw an object into the basket.
3.)Clown fishing. Make a fishing pole. Kids fish between a curtain. someone behind the curtain attaches a prize to the pole when they pull it back.

BIRTHDAY PARTY FOOD IDEAS

YOUR FOOD TABLE WILL BE THE EYE-CANDY OF THE PARTY!

There are so many fun things you will want to put on the party table. This part of birthday party planning is fun!

CAKE-
The easiest way to cut a cake is with dental floss or even fishing line. Knives cutting through icing and cake can get very messy.

If you want to forget a cake, go with easy cupcakes with fun little rings or picks that match JoJo’s Circus. You know who… has a really neat cupcake holder too. You need to check it out!

JELLO JIGGLERS
are always fun and kids love them! For extra fun, slip a gummy fish in blue colored Jello Jigglers before it sets.

REMEMBER-When you are doing your party planning.. kids are excited at birthdays and they don’t eat much. Have simple fun foods.

Also, we all know that sugar will get kids MORE hyper. Unless your birthday party is in a gymnasium, or a playground, think about the foods you will be serving!

Also, this party should be FUN! Don’t make a huge ordeal over the menu. You are not putting on a wedding, it’s your kids birthday party. FUN is the key word here!

FUN SANDWICHES-Use simple shaped cookie cutters to make cute little finger sandwiches. Kids are so excited at birthday parties. Don’t expect them to eat a 3 course meal. You could skip sandwiches all together and just serve cake and ice cream.

GOLDFISH CRACKERS are always a hit with kids.

PIZZA-Now THIS is a no brainer! It’s a perfect kid’s party food. Have them deliver to your party. EASY! Or…. you can make an activity and have the kids top their own personal bagels or premade pizza dough.

FRUIT-Cut in slices and put in a pretty pattern.Use matching food picks. Serve with a sweet yogurt dip.

POPCORN- Perfect for a circus theme party idea. order those circus red and white popcorn bags.

SWEET PRETZELS- Dip pretzels in warm white chocolate and sprinkle with colored sprinkels. Yummm.

BIRTHDAY PARTY PLANNING IDEAS
You could hire a birthday party planner to put together all your kid’s parties… But it really is not that hard to do yourself. There are so many ways of having a fun birthday party full of great memories without spending alot of money.

FUN is the key word. You know your child, and what he/she likes. Let them be the major planner. It is THEIR party. Of course setting ground rules is important. But let them choose the pattern.

Shop with your child and let them show you their favorite ones. Let your child pick their favorite friends to come to the party.

Let them help with what kind of food should be served. They WILL remember the planning, as much as the party, if YOU allow them to help.

BIRTHDAY DIRECT would love to hear how your party went. Go to Penny the Party Planner Blog and tell everything! If you’d like, send a photo of your great party.
