CARS BIRTHDAY PARTY PLANNING TIPS
Ann O’hare, a homeschool mom from Ohio, emailed us. She said she was so busy with her party that she didn’t even think of getting her own picture made with her son. Has this ever happened to you?

IMPORTANT!
Delegate jobs to friends you know won’t mind helping. Ask them before the party so they won’t be surprised.

* Someone to take a few great shots:The classic- child blowing out the candles. Have Mom and Dad bend over next to the birthday star while singing for a perfect picture.Take a few of the parents and make sure you get a group shot of all the kids.

* Someone to help with the cake and food

* Someone to help with the games and activities (maybe your babysitter or a family member)

* Your child will love to help you put up decorations.

Taking lots of pictures and videotaping parts of the party is very important. Don’t feel like you have to tape every second.. Just the highlights.

If you feel comfortable, allow the kids take some pictures. This will be a fun activity and as you know, deleting bad shots are easy with a digital camera. You may be surprised at pictures kids can take.

WHERE SHOULD WE PARTY?
Why not fly the kids to a racetrack for a day! Hmmm… Oh. you don’t have access to a money tree?…maybe the local recreation center is more in your budget range..You can rent a party room or a gym.

If you have a big basement or living room, you can move out the furniture for the day. Make sure you have lots of room for the boys to have fun.

CARS DECORATIONS
There are some really great decorations in this CARS pattern. A fast way to decorate the ceiling is to use the ‘CARS Ceiling Decoration’ that looks like a road. There are 9 ribbons attached with the main cars characters.

You just tape the corners up. Another thing they have is a plastic mural (on sale) called Scene Setters. This is awesome! It is 20 feet wide and can wrap around a large part of your party area. It looks like the desert in the CARS movie. Your birthday party is going to be great!

CARS PARTY ACTIVITIES
You gotta have a race theme for this party!

Disc Launch-
Order these party favors and have the kids initial their discs. Put a laundry basket, or just an X in the middle of an empty space. Have kids take turns shooting their CARS Launcher towards the target.

The closest one gets a prize, or let this just be a fun activity. Give everyone a Cars tattoo at the end of this game.

BALL FUN-
This is great for little kids. In a large open space have a bunch of big colorful punch balls or bouncy balls that the kids can play with. These favors can also be part of their take home birthday party treat. Remember, you and your child should have FUN at the party!

DESIGN A RACE CAR-
Have two teams.. Each has a box large enough for a child to hold around him, duct tape, colored tag board, aluminum foil, markers and plain paper.

Give each team 15 minutes to decorate their race car. Give CARS notepads (that you can order) to each team member to write their design ideas.

Use the designer cars for relay races.

SWEET CARS
If your space is limited, have an activity of designing a car using candybars, candy pieces, and wiggle eyes. Then have a car show. This is a great birthday party idea and a fun take home treat or eat after the show!

FOOD IDEAS
CAKE- Have you checked out the awesome cake kits Birthdaydirect.com has? A CARS cake kit is just what you need for this party. Practice making a cake long before the party so you can see what you will be getting into.

The easiest way to cut a cake is with dental floss or a strong string. Knives cutting through icing and cake get very messy. If you want to forget a cake, go with easy cupcakes with fun little rings or picks that match the Cars theme.

They even have Baking Cups that match. Birthdaydirect has a really neat cupcake holder too. You need to check it out!

REMEMBER- When kids are excited they don’t eat much. Have simple fun foods. Also, we all know that sugar will get all kids MORE hyper. Unless your birthday party is in a gymnasium, or a playground, think about the foods you will be serving!

Also, this party should be FUN! Don’t make a huge ordeal over this menue. You are not putting on a wedding, it’s your kids birthday party. FUN is the key word here!

JELLO JIGGLERS- Always fun and kids love them! For extra fun, slip a gummy fish in blue colored Jello Jigglers before it sets.

FUN SANDWICHES- Use simple shaped cookie cutters to make cute little finger sandwiches. Kids are so excited at birthday parties. Don’t expect them to eat a 3 course meal.

SWEET PRETZELS-dip pretzels in white chocolate and cover with colored sprinkels. Yummmm.

POPCORN- order red and white popcorn bags

GOLDFISH CRACKERS- are always a hit with kids.

VEGETABLES- cut in small pieces with dressing for dipping

FRUIT- with a dip

PIZZA- Have you ever met a kid that doesn’t like pizza? For an activity you may want to have the kids put toppings on their own mini pizzas made from bagels or prepackaged pizza dough.

BIRTHDAY PARTY PLANNING IDEAS
You could hire a birthday party planner to put together all your kid’s parties… But it really is not that hard to do it yourself. There are so many ways of having a fun birthday party full of great memories without spending alot of money.

FUN is the key word. You know your child and what he/she likes. Let them be the major planner. It is THEIR party. Of course setting ground rules is important.

But let them choose the pattern, their best friends, and even help with what kind of food should be served. They will remember the planning as much as the party if YOU allow them to help.
