WHO ARE THE CARE BEARS?
The Care Bears are a group of adorable bear friends each with their own special kind of caring and a bright colored tummy graphic to match. They live in Care-a-lot, a cuddly, soft cloudscape playland. They teach the importance of caring for others and sharing their special feelings.

CARE BEARS BIRTHDAY PARTY PLANNING TIPS
Your Care Bear party will be filled with good feelings and fun, just like the Care Bears themselves. Sandy Silverberg, of New York emailed us with praises of how well her party went. We used some of her ideas that she shared with us.

First, each child was given a name tag of their favorite Care Bear. That’s who they were throughout the party. Little kids (under 3) love to just play with a few toys and will probably not remember their special first or second birthday celebrations. That’s why taking lots of pictures and videotaping parts of the first few parties are very important.

Delegate jobs to friends you know wont mind to help. Ask them before the party so they won’t be surprised.

* Someone to take a few great shots:The classic- child blowing out the candles. Have Mom and Dad bend over next to the birthday star while singing for a perfect picture.Take a few of the parents and make sure you get a group shot of all the kids.

* Someone to help with the cake and food

*Someone to help with the games and activities (maybe your babysitter or a family member)

* Your child will love to help put up decorations. l

CARE BEARS PARTY DECORATIONS
Mom, remember that balloons are inexpensive and they go far when decorating.

* Put a balloon on the back of each birthday chair. Use curling ribbon too.

* Attach color co-ordinating balloons to a hula hoop. Duct tape the hoop to the back of the birthday child’s chair. Talk about being the center of attention!

*For easy decorating, zero in on one focal point in the room. Decorate this area BIG. Blow up balloons in different sizes and attach to poles or string that is hung from the center of the room. Drape color matching streamers from the center to each corner of the room. That’s all you need! No big deal.

You will find it fun and easy ordering from their cool “Rainbow of Colors” that their own creative department has already picked for your party pattern. That’s something else you don’t have to worry about.

CARE BEARS PARTY GAMES AND ACTIVITIES

SHARE BEAR GAME
Fun and simple. Have a bunch of small gift bags filled with only tissue paper. Kids will sit in a circle. One of the gift bags will have a party favor with the tissue. Kids will pass the bag to the person next to them.

Play children’s party music and stop about every 10 seconds. Everyone opens their bag when the music stops, but only one will have a special favor in it. The kids re-wrap their gift bags as you slip in a favor in another bag. That child sits out as the game continues.

Sandy had an activity table where the kids could either color or play with play-doh as the game continued if they diddn’t want to watch. She had an older cousin supervise this table.

BUBBLES
Blow lots of bubbles with some fun music.

REMEMBER, you and your child should have FUN at the party! Don’t get stressed! Care Bears encourages creativity and so should you. Have a simple activity the kids will all enjoy.

PIN A HEART ON A BEAR
Enlarge a coloring book picture of a bear. Cut out red hearts. Blindfold each birthday party child. Take turns. Each child gets a party favor for trying. The closest one to place the heart on the bear’s tummy wins a bigger birthday party favor!

HIDDEN TREASURE HUNT
Kids also love to hunt for hidden treasures. Hide small toys in a baby pool filled with popcorn. Give each child a chance to dig for a surprise.

BEAN BEAR TOSS
with a laundry basket and stuffed bears.

LIMBO
Everyone has fun with this game. If you don’t want to buy an official Limbo set, you can have just as much fun holding a long stick and lowering it.

PINATA
These have become very popular over the past few years. You can order ones that have certain shapes, or collapsable ones from Birthdaydirect.com. Fill with small candies and toys. Save this for the grand finale of the party.

CARE BEARS PARTY FOOD IDEAS

CAKE- Have you checked out the awesome cake kits Birthdaydirect.com has? Kids love animal shaped cakes. Practice making a cake long before the party so you can see what you will be getting into.

The easiest way to cut a cake is with dental floss or a strong string. Knives cutting through icing and cake get very messy. If you want to forget a cake, go with easy cupcakes with fun little rings or picks that match your Care Bears theme. Birthdaydirect has a really neat cupcake holder too. You need to check it out!

REMEMBER- When kids are excited they don’t eat much. Have simple fun foods. Also, we all know that sugar will get all kids MORE hyper. Unless your birthday party is in a gymnasium, or a playground, think about the foods you will be serving!

Also, this party should be FUN! Don’t make a huge ordeal over this menue. You are not putting on a wedding, it’s your kids birthday party. FUN is the key word here!

JELLO JIGGLERS- Always fun and kids love them! For extra fun, slip a gummy bear in yello colored Jello Jigglers before it sets.

HONEY BEAR SANDWICHES- use a bear shaped cookie cutter, spread honey and peanut butter on bread

GOLDFISH CRACKERS are always a hit with kids.

VEGETABLES- cut in small pieces with dressing for dipping

FRUIT- with a yogurt dip

PIZZA- all kids love this easy party food

BIRTHDAY PARTY PLANNING IDEAS
Mom,you could hire a birthday party planner to put together all of your kid’s parties… But it really is not that hard to do it yourself. There are so many ways of having a fun birthday party full of great memories.

FUN is the key word. Don’t look at this as a chore. You know your child and what he/she likes. Let them be the major planner. It is THEIR party. Of course setting ground rules is important. But let them choose the pattern, their best friends, and even help with what kind of food should be served. They will remember the planning(spending special time with Mom)as much as the party if YOU allow them to help.
