Who is Buzz Lightyear?
Buzz Lightyear is a Space Ranger of Star Command. His mission is to protect the universe from the Evil Emperor Zurg. His catchphrases are “I’m Buzz Lightyear, Space Ranger, Universe Protection Unit,” and “To infinity, and beyond!”
Buzz Lightyear Birthday Party Decorations
- Why not set the scene for Space Ranger action with a cool Stars at Night Party Backdrop? The backdrop will give your kids a galactic play space in which they can pretend to go on adventures with Buzz Lightyear.
- Continue decorating by arranging Buzz Lightyear Giant Wall Stickers on the Stars at Night Party Backdrop, so that Buzz appears to be zipping through space.
- Balloons are always a fun birthday party decoration, and Buzz Lightyear Supershape Foil Balloons are just one more way to bring a little more birthday joy to your child’s party.
- Adding a Buzz Lightyear Life Size Cutout is sure to delight little ones! The heroically-sized Space Ranger will tower over your kids and make them feel like Buzz made a special trip just to visit the party.
Buzz Lightyear Birthday Party Games and Activities
Starship Engineering
- Get a large cardboard box, or several boxes, and plenty of decorating supplies like aluminum foil, duct tape, buttons, and paper tubes.
- Let the kids decorate the boxes to look like a rocket ship. Help them cut a large hole in the front and back of the ship large enough to crawl through. The kids can play in the starship, or you can have them use it to play the Star Commander game below!
Star Commander
- For this game, use the Starship your kids made from the above Starship Engineering activity. Have the kids line up and pretend to be Space Rangers as they go through the Starship one at a time while you play music. When the music stops, the child inside the Starship is the Star Commander, and he or she gets a special prize (such as a fun sticker) and gets to work the music for choosing the next Star Commander.
- If you don’t have time for the kids to decorate a starship beforehand, you can just grab a chair from the kitchen and call it the Star Commander’s Chair. You can play the same way, just having the kids touch the chair one at a time as they walk around until the music stops.
- Recommended music for this game includes the Toy Story Soundtrack or any music from science fiction television shows or movies, such as Star Trek or Star Wars.
Space Ranger Flight Course
- To play this game, have kids either decorate paper airplanes with cool spaceship designs, or order Buzz Lightyear Foam Fliers.
- Hang a hula hoop from the ceiling or a hallway door frame, and place a laundry basket behind it. Then let the kids try to toss their paper airplanes or Buzz Lightyear Foam Fliers so that they pass through the hula hoop and land in the laundry basket. This activity might be a little tricky, especially for little ones, so be sure to give prizes for just trying the course instead of completing it.
Buzz Lightyear Birthday Party Food![]()
- Spoon peanut butter and grape jelly into a plastic bag. Cut the corner off the bag, and let the kids have fun making star patterns with the PB&J mixture on crackers.
- Make Supernova Sandwiches by cutting out star shaped sandwiches using a cookie cutter.
- Galaxy Swirl Snacks are delicious, easy to make, and look great. Just cover a tortilla with cheese and meat or peanut butter and jelly. Then roll it up tightly and cut it into individual sections. The pieces will look like tasty little spiral galaxies.
- Make a Buzz Lightyear Cake using a Buzz Lightyear Cake Pan, then decorate it with a Buzz Lightyear Cake Candle or a Buzz Lightyear Cake Topper.
Buzz Lightyear Birthday Party Tips
- You can have a lot of fun preparing to throw your child a great birthday party, but don’t wear yourself out trying to make everything “perfect.” Accidents happen, drinks get spilled, etc. When they do, handle the situation calmly and gently so that everyone, including you, will keep having a great time.
- Take lots of pictures, but don’t forget to include yourself in the fun. Try playing the games and doing the activities you worked so hard to plan alongside with the kids. When it is time for your child to blow out the candles, get a relative to snap the picture while you get in the shot beside your child.
- Make sure you have everything you need before the party begins. Once the party starts, you probably will not be able to drive to the store to get anything you may have forgotten. To help avoid this problem, make a party checklist the night before and ensure everything you need is on it.
